Disgusting. Morally abhorrent. Terrifying.

That's an interesting little event. The law appears to kinda make sense, not overly draconian by European standards. Mostly establishes sexuality as a protected class so you can't discriminate against based on it while hiring, etc., has a little bit about the usual hate speech restrictions that would have dubious standings under the first amendment but is agreeable to most Europeans.

The interesting bits are that

  1. the most powerful party opposed it, but it passed anyways through a direct democracy referendum

  2. the most powerful party opposed not because they objected to some part of the law, but because they believed a better solution to reducing homophobia was to kick out all the recent immigrants

Swiss living up to their stereotypes.
